AUGUST 2010 On August 19, 2010 Ohio State University President Gordon Gee stopped by the Main Store during his 2010 Summer Tour. President Gee took a tour of the facility, sampled our chocolate covered pretzels, which he called "unbelievable", and spoke with many of the 200+ guests that were in attendance. President Gee was accompanied by Brutus the Buckeye and bus of spirit students. Several fans had their picture taken or received an autograph from one of our special guests. President Gee commented upon his arrival that Dietsch Brothers was one of the stops on his tour that he had been looking forward to for months since he has such a sweet tooth. To see the entire photo album from the event please check out the OSU President Gee and Brutus the Buckeye's Visit photos on Facebook or watch a short video of President Gee's Visit on YouTube, courtesy of the Findlay Courier newspaper.
OCTOBER 2009 Dietsch Brothers signed up to be a supporter of the 3/50 Project. The 3/50 Project supports independent, locally owned businesses by inspiring consumer loyalty to the storefronts that directly fund their communities. The concept is simple: Think of three businesses you'd miss if they went away. Stop in. Say hello. Pick up a little something that makes you smile. That's what keeps them around, after all. Pick 3 local businesses, spend $50 a month between the three stores. Save your local economy. For more information, please visit the 3/50 Project website.
JUNE 2009 Our brand new line of Dietsch Brothers merchandise arrived in-store. The collection of items includes t-shirts, hats, mugs and magnetic clips. Also, the Sweet Supporters of Dietsch Brothers Facebook group surpassed 2,000 members on June 26th! Thank you to all our supporters around the world.

AUGUST 2008 To mark the one year anniversary of the flood, Dietsch Brothers had another "Give Back to The Community Day" on Friday, August 22nd. 10% of all sales from both store locations that day were given to the Hope House in Downtown Findlay. This worthy organization, that helps women and children, suffered devastating losses to their shelter after the flood of 2007.
APRIL 2008 Erika Dietsch Brokamp, Wholesale Accounts Manager, and Brian Lemons, East Store Manager, attended the ZingTrain Merchandizing Boot Camp put on by Zingerman's of Ann Arbor and Retail Confectioners International. The two day seminar was held in Sterling Heights, Michigan
FEBRUARY 2008 On February 22nd we finally launched our Dietsch Brothers Internet shopping website. This project has been in the works for several months but the launch was postponed due to flooding in the fall and the busy holiday season that followed soon after. We are thrilled to have an avenue for current and former Findlay residents to shop at as well as a way to introduce our fine chocolates to people around the world.
NOVEMBER 2007 Dietsch Brothers Gives Thanks For Seventy Years In Business On November 8th we celebrated our 70th anniversary by giving back to the Findlay community. First, we wanted to thank the American Red Cross for all their flood relief efforts so we DONATED 10% OF ALL SALES FROM BOTH STORE LOCATIONS ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH TO THE LOCAL RED CROSS CHAPTER. We were happy to reach our sales goal for the day and were able to make a generous donation to the local Red Cross. Second, we wanted to thank our loyal customers so we held drawings at both our store locations and gave away $100 gift baskets and certificates for a year's worth of ice cream along with candy samples to all customers who came in that day.
AUGUST 2007 On August 21 & 22, 2007 the Findlay area suffered its worst flooding in nearly 100 years. While neither of our stores lie in the flood plain, this disaster was so widespread that it caused major damage at both store locations. The East Store was impacted less than the Main Store and was able to re-open about two and half weeks after suffering flash flood damage throughout the store. The Main Store had an entire basement full of equipment ....and full of water. There also was 13" of flood water throughout the main floor of the building. Here are a couple photos of the Main Store flooding:
